Prayer should be an integral part of our everyday life, because it is the only way we can connect with God. Whether we are praising God, thanking Him, interceding on the behalf of others, or praying simple uplifting prayers from the heart, we SHOULD seek Him daily.
We cannot understate or discredit the significance of prayer, as it has such a profound impact on our emotional, mental and physical well-being. Even God tells us in His word that prayer should be unending.
In 1 Thessalonians 5, God’s word says ‘Pray without ceasing’ and in Philippians 4:6, it again says, ‘Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.’ In James 5:16, we read that we should confess our sins to each other and pray for each other so that we may be healed. The verse goes on to say that the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Undoubtedly, this is confirmation that prayer is the best way to communicate and connect with God.
What exactly is prayer?
The short answer; prayer is talking to God. You can do so in your heart, in your mind or out loud, but the key is surrendering totally and reverencing God in that present state to establish a connection. The more we connect with God, the closer we become to Him.
Matthew 6:5-13 tells us exactly how to pray and what we should do, versus what we should not do when we pray. Praying these simple uplifting prayers from the heart, can help you get into the habit of praying for people and circumstances while keeping God’s instruction and encouragement in your heart. These prayers are short but effective, and you may use them as a start-up guide for your own prayer time with God.
PRAYING SIMPLE AND UPLIFTING PRAYERS FROM THE HEART HELPS US DRAW CLOSER TO GOD.
A PRAYER FOR MERCY
O Lord,
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, my strength and my Redeemer. Hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief.
Amen!
A PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
Dear God,
Your word says to come as I am, so I come to you broken and chained. Please forgive me for my sins. Cleanse me from anything that is not of you. Renew my mind, my heart, and spirit according to your will,
in Christ Jesus,
Amen!
ASKING GOD TO DRAW NEAR
Dear Lord,
Draw me near to you and hide me underneath your wings like a mother hen does her chicks. Your word says that if I dwell in your secret place I will abide under your shadow. Keep me close, so that I am covered by your shadow and that I may dwell in safety, all the days of my life.
Amen!
PRAYING FOR PEOPLE AND CIRCUMSTANCES HELPS BUILD BETTER RELATIONSHIPS
Praying for others can strengthen bonds, increase feelings of empathy and compassion, and improve personal relationships.
A PRAYER FOR FORGIVENESS
Dear God,
I come to your throne with a remorseful heart. Please forgive me for my sins as
I surrender to your ways.
Examine my heart and fill it with your perfect love, that I may forgive others who have trespassed against me.
Amen!
PRAYING FOR MY CHILDREN
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for my children. Grant me the knowledge and wisdom to raise them in the way that you need me to. May they desire only the things of you, as they grow to love and serve you. Whatsoever things are true, Whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely; if there be any virtue, let them think only on these, in Jesus name,
Amen!
PRAYING FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS
Father in Heaven,
Thank you for the gift of family and friends. Help them to love each other like you love,
and may your Spirit encamp and protect them all the days of their lives. This I ask in Jesus name,
Amen!
SIMPLE UPLIFTING PRAYERS FROM THE HEART INCREASES GRATITUDE
Regular prayer can cultivate a habit of thankfulness, and lead to a more positive outlook on life. I have found myself always being so thankful at the end of every prayer; thankful for every tangible and intangible thing, but to have the opportunity to be able to connect with God my Creator is awesome. It is my hope that when you pray, your heart will be triggered and filled with this gratitude.
Phillipians 4:6 says Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
SEEKING GOD
Jesus, my Savior,
Thank you for the gift of salvation. I am broken, lost, and empty. Come into my life and make me whole. Of the sinners sit, and the ways of the wicked, I want no part. Set my eyes on you alone, and fill me with the water of life, that I may thirst no more, in your name I pray,
Amen!
A MORNING PRAYER
Oh Lord,
my strength and my shield, go before me today. This is the day that You have made, so I will rejoice and be glad in it. There is nothing that I can’t handle today, because I know I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
Amen!
THANKFULNESS IN TIMES OF PERSECUTION
Almighty God
Thank you for never leaving me or forsaking me. Thank you for working all things for my good. Help me to trust you in times of persecution, knowing that the testing of my faith produces perseverance. Let me glory in my infirmities, that your power may rest upon me, and your strength be made perfect in my weakness.
Amen!
