Why is it so important to study the Word of God? Every theologian or highly educated bible believing individual may have a sophisticated answer, but mine is simple: your life depends on it.

That is how important God’s Word is. This may sound harsh, but living without God’s Word is like being spiritually dead while physically alive.
The Bible gives many reasons why we should arm ourselves with God’s Word. It provides wisdom, guidance, strength, correction, and truth for every season of life.
God’s Word is not merely a book to be read; it is essential for spiritual growth and survival. When we neglect it, we walk through life without the direction and nourishment that God intended for us.
Here’s why studying, understanding, and applying God’s Word is so important.
It is our armor
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Ephesians 6:11-12 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
It teaches us how to live our lives pleasing to God
Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal
The word of God keeps us accountable and helps us to grow and remain faithful to God
Romans 14:12 So then every one of us shall give an account of himself to God.
It is an opportunity to learn the truth on our own, without the interpretation of others
2 Timothy 2:15 says Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
It is the helmet of salvation that leads us to Christ
Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
The word of God helps us to be wise
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
It brings meaning to our lives while keeping us encouraged and hopeful
Psalm 31:24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.
So now that you know the importance of God’s word, let’s dig in shall we?
Memory verses that comfort

Are there Bible verses you run to over and over again when you need a hopeful word? How comforting is that, right?
The word of God speaks directly to our hearts and our situations, so it sure helps to memorize these verses.
Memory verses have helped me to overcome many unwelcoming thoughts and feelings.
I find myself always jotting down scripture on post-its, tissue paper, my phone, and anything I have on hand at the time.
These verses lift my spirits and continually reassure me of who I am in Christ, my faith in him, who is in control, and where my strength comes from. In sharing, it is my hope that these verses bless you and speak to you as they do me.
